The Columbia Summer Program is a cooperation between Columbia University Law School, Leiden University Law School and the University of Amsterdam Law School.


The Columbia Summer Program has been in existence for almost 50 years, and is a cooperation between Columbia University Law School, Leiden University Law School and the University of Amsterdam Law School. Since 1963 the program is held alternately in Leiden and in Amsterdam.The program is entirely taught by Columbia professors, and is designed to provide a general introduction to the American legal system for lawyers and other (legal) professionals, or (graduate) students interested in the program.

At the end of the Program, students are awarded a Certificate of Participation. If they wish to take a final examination, they may obtain 6 EC (European credits, ECTS) toward degrees at their home universities
